But as soon as this thy son was come who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.’
but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.
but when this [other] son of yours arrived, who has devoured your estate with immoral women, you slaughtered that fattened calf for him!’
But when this son of yours arrived, who has devoured your estate with immoral women, you have killed for him that [wheat-] fattened calf!
But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’
But when this son of yours returned, after gobbling up your estate on prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’
Yet this son of yours comes, who squandered your property with prostitutes, and for him you slaughter the fattened calf!’
This other son of yours wasted your money on prostitutes. And now that he has come home, you ordered the best calf to be killed for a feast.”
but when this thy son, who has devoured thy substance with harlots, is come, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
But when this son of yours came— the one having devoured your property with prostitutes— you slaughtered the fatted calf for him!’
But as soon as this thy son is come, who hath devoured his substance with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
But then this son of yours comes home after wasting your money on prostitutes, and you kill the best calf for him!’
But now this other son of yours has returned. He has wasted all the money that you gave to him. He has spent it on prostitutes. But you have even killed the fat young cow for him.”
But when this son of yours arrived after wasting your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
But ·your other son [L this son of yours], who ·wasted [squandered; devoured] ·all your money [your property; L your life] on prostitutes, comes home, and you kill the fat [fattened; v. 23] calf for him!’
But when this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy goods with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calf.
But this son of yours spent your money on prostitutes, and when he came home, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But this son of yours wasted all your property on prostitutes, and when he comes back home, you kill the prize calf for him!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’
But your other son has wasted all your money on prostitutes. Then he comes home, and you kill the fat calf for him!’
But this son of yours spent your money on prostitutes, and when he came back, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
“But his elder son was out in the fields, and as he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants across to him and enquired what was the meaning of it all. ‘Your brother has arrived, and your father has killed the calf we fattened because he has got him home again safe and sound,’ was the reply. But he was furious and refused to go inside the house. So his father came outside and called him. Then he burst out, ‘Look, how many years have I slaved for you and never disobeyed a single order of yours, and yet you have never given me so much as a young goat, so that I could give my friends a dinner? But when that son of yours arrives, who has spent all your money on prostitutes, for him you kill the calf we’ve fattened!’ But the father replied, ‘My dear son, you have been with me all the time and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and show our joy. For this is your brother; I thought he was dead—and he’s alive. I thought he was lost—and he is found!’”
But as soon as this thy son was come who has devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed the fatted calf for him.
But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
but as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But when this son of yours returned—who has consumed your assets with prostitutes—you killed the fattened calf for him!’
Yet when this son of yours comes back after spending your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the finest calf we have on the place.’
“The older brother stomped off in an angry sulk and refused to join in. His father came out and tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t listen. The son said, ‘Look how many years I’ve stayed here serving you, never giving you one moment of grief, but have you ever thrown a party for me and my friends? Then this son of yours who has thrown away your money on whores shows up and you go all out with a feast!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But when · this son of yours came, who has consumed your · estate with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
But this son of yours spent your money on prostitutes, and when he came home, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But when your son returns who swallowed up your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf.’
but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.’
but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But when this son of yours returns after wasting his inheritance from you on prostitutes, you kill the fatted calf for him.’
But your other son, who wasted all your money on prostitutes, comes home, and you kill the fat calf for him!’
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
But this son of yours wasted your money with some prostitutes. Now he comes home. And for him you kill the fattest calf!’
But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!”
But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’
But as soon as this son of yours came back, you killed the fat calf. And yet he wasted your money with bad women.’
Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’
But as soon as this your son comes, who has devoured your goods with harlots, you have for his pleasure killed the fatted calf!
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!”
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!”
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!’
But when this son of yours comes home, once he’s finished gobbling up your livelihood with his whores, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
But when shows up this ben of yours, the one having devoured your property with zonot (prostitutes), you sacrificed for him the fattened calf. [MISHLE 29:3]
‘But when this, your son, had come - who had devoured your goods with harlots - you have killed the fat calf for his sake!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!’
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you killed for him the fatted calf!’
But when this son of yours came—the one who has squandered your wealth with prostitutes—for him you killed the fattened calf!”
So this son of yours comes, this wasteful delinquent who has spent your hard-earned wealth on loose women, and what do you do? You butcher the fattest calf from our herd!”
But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
But now this son of yours has come back. He has spent all your money and was with bad women. And yet you kill the fat calf for him!"
But after that this thy son, that hath devoured his substance with whores, came, thou hast slain to him a fat calf.
but when thy son -- this one who did devour thy living with harlots -- came, thou didst kill to him the fatted calf.
